The Children’s Museum's Annual 5K Road Race and Children’s
Fun Run events are held each spring to support the museum’s Reach All
initiative. The 5K Race is the first race in the Seacoast Road Race Series and held in downtown Dover, with a start and finish in front of the
museum.
2013 5K RACE: This year's race date is Saturday, May 4 at 9 am! We will be the first race of the Seacoast Road Race Series once again and include an official competitive racewalker division. Please note that this race is capped at 1,200 participants so don't wait til the last minute! The first 500 participants to register receive a 2013 race t-shirt.
Children up to age 12 can register for Fun Run events including
a 50-yard dash, and ¼ and ½ mile races. All Fun Run participants
receive a blue ribbon, plus water, snacks, face painting and more.
TO REGISTER:
Online registration is now closed, though a few spots still remain. To register, please come to the museum Friday night between 5-7pm, or Saturday morning 7:30-8:45 am. For questions, call 742-2002.

Interested in having your entry fee waived? Consider collecting pledges to sponsor your run. Not only will your entry fee be waived but the money you raise in pledges helps provide free access to the museum for families in difficult circumstances. The top three runners who collect the most pledge will receive a prize!

5K Race Route:
The Children's Museum's 5K Road Race begins at 9 AM at the intersection of
Central Avenue, Washington Street and Henry Law Avenue, just in front of
the museum. The course runs up Central Avenue to Chapel Street, up
Portland Avenue and back, finishing with a run across the bridge and back around to Henry Law Park. A division for competitive
walkers/racewalkers is now available. Post-race activities,
including an awards ceremony and refreshments, will take place in Henry
Law Park following the race. Top finishers will receive lobster dinner gift certificates from Weathervane Seafoods. The first 500 paid registrants will
receive free race T-shirts featuring a new logo. The 5K registration fee is $22 in advance and $25
on the day of the race.
Children ages 12 and younger can participate in the Fun Run, which
takes place at approximately 10:30 AM in Henry Law Park. The Fun Run series of events
features a 1/2-mile race, two 1/4-mile races (one for children 6 and
under, another for children 7-10), and a free 50-yard dash for children
age 4 and under. All Fun Run participants will receive a blue ribbon,
and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers of the longer
races. Paid registrants in the 1/2-mile and 1/4-mile races will also
receive free t-shirts. The entry fee for the 1/2-mile and 1/4 mile races
is $8 for registration in advance and $10 on race day. There is no fee
for children participating in the 50-yard dash although a signed release
form is required.
PARKING:
Event parking is available on race day in the following locations:
- River Street lot, continue past museum entrance along Washington Street, continue on Waters St., cross bridge onto River Street.
- Orchard Street lot near Post Office, accessed via Central Ave. or Chestnut St.
- Library Lot on Locust St, across from the Dover Police Station.
