Camps, Classes & Workshops

If you are looking for a class, camp or workshop, the Children's Museum of New Hampshire has a lot to offer a wide range of ages. You can choose from:

  • Science Classes that run throughout the Fall, Winter and Spring in 6 week sessions
  • Adult-Child Workshops are one hour fun themed workshops scheduled during busy vacation weeks and other times throughout the school year
  • Summer Camps for ages 4-6 or 7-11 scheduled July through the end of August
  • Partner Science Camps for ages 7-12 scheduled during the summer and offered by outside educational groups, hosted here at the museum



Adult-Child Workshops

Carp Kites & Fish Prints: Adult/Child Workshop
Tuesday, April 23, 1:30-2:30pm

We’re traveling to Japan for this Adult/Child Workshop! Learn about the Japanese celebration Kodomo No-Hi (Children’s Day!) coming up on May 5th. Make a special carp fish kite and learn about the art of fish printing – make your own fish print on fabric to take home! Registration is required. Due to space restrictions, no extra adults please. Cost is $10 per adult/child pair for Members, $15 per adult/child pair for non-members, and $5 per additional child. Cost does not include admission. Recommended for ages 5+.

Marigolds

Green Thumb Fun: Adult/Child Workshop
Wednesday, April 24, 1:30-2:30pm

Bring your green thumb to this Adult/Child workshop all about plants! Design and decoupage a flower-pot to take home – plant seedlings and make special seed markers to place in your garden. Registration is required. Due to space restrictions, no extra adults please. Cost is $10 per adult/child pair for Members, $15 per adult/child pair for non-members, and $5 per additional child. Cost does not include admission. Recommended for ages 5+.

Science ART: Adult/Child Workshop 
Thursday, April 25, 1:30-2:30pm

Join us for this startlingly science-filled Adult/Child Workshop! Play games to learn about circuits and electricity – and then make your own paper circuit that really lights up to take home! Explore static electricity with eye-opening experiments and make a static electricity craft! Registration is required. Due to space restrictions, no extra adults please. Cost is $10 per adult/child pair for Members, $15 per adult/child pair for non-members, and $5 per additional child. Cost does not include admission. Recommended for ages 5+.

This spring, junior scientists, ages 3.5-5, will learn all about the sea - from the salt to the sand to the amazing creatures that call the ocean home.

Monday Junior Science Class:

MEMBER PERK: The museum exhibits are closed on Mondays, but smaller siblings and parents who are museum members will have access to the Primary Place exhibit to play while class is in session (45 minutes).

Monday Homeschool Science Class: Garden Ecology

Mondays, April 29 - June 10, 1:30-2:30pm

Join us as we get the museum's gardens ready for the summer time! In this six-week class our homeschool science students, ages 6-10, will learn all about garden ecology! Young scientists will get to try experiments, make art projects, and even do some engineering projects in this hands-on science class. Everyone will go home with plants to grow at home at the end of the session. Please dress for the weather and the dirt - we will be spending time out in the museum garden during each class. There will be NO class on Memorial Day.

The Children's Museum of NH offers summer camps for two different age groups – for children ages 4-6 and 7-11. Camp size is limited to 12 students per program.

Registration will close one week before each camp begins.

Discovery Camps

4-Day Camps for ages 7-11

Mondays–Thursdays, 9:15am–1pm
Fee: $150/camp for Members & $170/camp for Non-members

Our Discovery Camps are for kids ages 7-11. These camps focus on bringing art and science right to kids’ fingertips, and explore a wide variety of topics with hands-on STEAM activities and exploration. Kids will eat lunch during this camp. Choose between the following camps:


Summer 4-Day Discovery Camp: FLIGHT - BUILD IT, FLY IT!

Monday, July 22 - Thursday, July 259:15am-1pm

This summer campers ages 7-11 can learn all about the history of flight through experiments and projects! Make your own model flying machines to take home from hot air balloons to stomp rockets! We will be crafting and inventing in the museum’s STEAM Lab and testing our inventions both in and outside of the museum.

Summer 4-Day Discovery Camp: S.T.E.A.M. SCIENCE AND ART

Monday, August 5 - Thursday, August 8, 9:15am-1pm

This summer makers and scientists ages 7-11 will get together in the STEAM Lab to try out amazing science experiments and interesting art projects. From mysterious mixtures to slimy sculptures this is a great place to get messy and creative, learn through science exploration, and take home some really cool art projects! Summer 4-Day Discovery Camp: TINKERERS, MAKERS AND ENGINEERS

Monday, August 12 - Thursday, August 15, 9:15am-1pm

This summer, campers ages 7-11 can practice engineering and inventing in this hands-on STEAM camp! Do you love to design? Do you love creative problem solving and building stuff? Do you love getting just a little bit messy? Join us for a week of tinkering, making, and engineering! Each day will have a different theme, and will include engineering challenges, projects to take home, and hands on science lessons.

Mini Camps

3-Day Mini Camps for Ages 4-6

Tuesdays–Thursdays, 9:15am-Noon
Fee: $90/mini-camp for Members & $100/mini-camp for Non-members
This is a great first summer camp experience for children ages 4-6. Each mini-camp features exclusive time interacting with museum exhibits, hands on activities, crafts, stories and a snack. Children must be 4 years old on the first day of camp and be able to use the bathroom independently. Each mini-camp focuses on hands-on, interactive learning.

3-Day Summer Mini-Camp: WILD AND WIDE AWAKE!

Tuesday, July 23 - Thursday, July 25, 9:15am-Noon

Campers ages 4-6 will learn about the many local nocturnal creatures that come out at night when we are asleep.  Find out how they have adapted to survive in our area. Campers will learn about several NH creatures as they engage in creative hands-on learning each day!

3-Day Summer Mini Camp: STORYBOOK STEAM

Tuesday, July 30 - Thursday, August 1, 9:15am-Noon

Even our youngest visitors (ages 4-6) can explore STEAM (Science/Technology/Engineering/ Art/Math). Do you have a young scientist at home that also loves books? This is the perfect camp! We’ll read wonderful picture books and then do experiments, activities, and crafts that match. We’ll explore topics from animals to art to the stars--and beyond!

3-Day Summer Mini Camp: OOEY GOOEY CHEMISTRY

Tuesday, August 6 - Thursday, August 8, 9:15am-Noon

This summer, mini campers ages 4-6, will get messy learning some basics of chemistry. We will explore chemical concoctions, kitchen chemistry, messy mixtures and more! Young scientists should come in their play clothes because this fizzy, bubbly, sticky, foamy, and fun chemistry camp is super messy and super fun!

3-Day Summer Mini Camp: ALL ABOUT WEATHER

Tuesday, August 13 - Thursday, August 15, 9:15am-Noon

What’s more fun to talk about than the weather in the hot, hot summer months? Junior scientists (ages 4-6) will explore rain, clouds, the sun, wind, snow, and more by doing hands-on interactive experiments; creating open-ended crafts, listening to stories, and learning fancy scientific words.

3-Day Summer Mini Camp: YES, YOU ARE AN ARTIST

Tuesday, August 20 - Thursday, August 22, 9:15am-Noon

This camp is designed to encourage the artist that exists within each camper! Using a variety of materials, each child, ages 4-6, will engage in the process of creating sculptures, wearable art, and much more. Campers will explore their creative potential and go home with some fabulous works of art! End the session with a mini art show for all to attend!

Mad Science Camp

MAKERS of the Future Camp
July 29-August 2, 2019, 9am-3pm

The Children's Museum is excited to partner with Mad Science of Maine to unleash your child's inner scientist by offering an exciting week of MAKE-ing for ages 7-12. This cutting edge camp is guaranteed to inspire emerging inventors, designers, engineers, and tinkerers. STEAM thinking gets activated through hands-on exploration with intelligent robots, stop-motion animation, game design, and app-enabled building blocks that stimulate innovation. Campers follow the inventor's cycle as they snap together electronic building blocks to create various gizmos and gadgets. Discover the FUN-damentals of programming with three intelligent robots that have big personalities. Build mechanical devices to solve problems and invent an app-enabled smart car. They move from the past to the present of game design as they lead an animated character on an adventure using coding blocks. Take a look back at early animation and then move to the present using green screens to create animation shorts. Make and take-home an electric wiggle bot, circuit creature, moving picture device, mechanical grabber, and so much more. This camp shows every child that the future is theirs for the MAKE-ing! Cost is $285 per camper. Registration for this class is handled through Mad Science, not the Children's Museum.
