Game Maker Camp11

Computer Science

February 28 – March 3, 9:15am-3pm
Must register by Tuesday, February 21

Do you have budding computer scientists at home? Roboticists? Video game programmers? This camp, for kids age 9-12, will focus on learning the basics of computer science and programming. Using the tiny and versatile Ozobot robots, campers write programs to guide the Ozobot through mazes, make up their own games for the Ozobots to play, and more! We’ll be working with Blockly, a visual programming editor that makes it easy for kids to start learning how to code! No previous experience with programming is necessary. Cost is $195 for Members and $215 for Non-members.

Science Classes


Junior Science Class: Science Art

Thursdays, March 9 - April 13
10-10:45am

This winter, junior scientists, ages 3.5-5, will dive into the world of science through art in this messy and fun class. We’ll explore open-ended crafts, read stories and, of course, get our hands dirty doing foamy, fizzy and bubbly experiments. These classes run for 6 weeks. Classes are $60 for Members and $70 for Non-members. Pre-registration is required. These classes run for 6 weeks with one week off for Thanksgiving. Homeschool Science: Science Through History

Thursdays, March 9 - April 13
11:30am-12:15pm

This winter, homeschool students, ages 6-8, will learn about some of the greatest scientific breakthroughs in human history and experiment with these discoveries themselves – from microscopes to rockets to electricity and beyond. Boldly go where the bravest scientists in history have gone before! These classes run for 6 weeks. Classes are $60 for Members and $70 for Non-members. Homeschool STEAM: Engineering and Design

Tuesdays, March 7 - April 11
11am-12:30pm

Homeschool kids ages 9-12 will get some hands-on experience with the engineering and design process in this class. From creating and testing parachutes, to building rubber band-powered cars, to prototyping ideas using a 3D printer, we’ll focus on how to bring great ideas to fruition with hard work, creativity, and lots and lots of trial and error! The cost is $120 for Members and $140 for Non-members. Pre-registration required.

2017 Summer Camps at CMNH!


The Children's Museum of NH offers summer camps for two different age groups – for children ages 4-6 and 7-11. Camp size is limited to 12 students per program.

Registration begins Monday, March 20th for Members and Tuesday, March 21st for Non-members. Registration will close one week before each camp begins.


Discovery Camps

5-Day Camps for ages 7-11

Mondays–Fridays, 9:15am–1pm
Fee: $170/camp for Members & $190/camp for Non-members
Our Discovery Camps are for kids ages 7-11. These camps focus on bringing art and science right to kids’ fingertips, and explore a wide variety of topics with hands-on STEAM activities and exploration. Choose between the following camps:


Summer 5-Day Discovery Camp: ART MASTER CLASS

Monday, July 24 - Friday, July 28
9:15am-1pm

What makes this camp a master class? Why, learning from the best of course! Kids ages 7-11 will have several local artists join them and teach them their techniques and help campers make their own. This class will end with a special gallery show for family and friends.

Summer 5-Day Discovery Camp: ADVENTURES IN CHEMISTRY

Monday, July 31 - Friday, August 4
9:15am-1pm

Want to get hands-on with cool chemistry experiments? It’s easier than you think! In this camp, for kids ages 7-11, we’ll check out the different chemical reactions that happen around us all day, from baking to bath bombs, slime to cabbage juice! Work with your fellow campers to create awesome experiments, and get some experience with the STEAM Lab’s science equipment, including our FLoid Imaging System microscopes!

Summer 5-Day Discovery Camp: DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?

Monday, August 14 - Friday, August 18
9:15am-1pm

Sounds are all around us – from music to ocean waves to birds singing! But what exactly is sound, and how is it made? This camp, for kids ages 7-11, will take a look at the science behind sound with all different kinds of experiments to demonstrate its shape and form, and all of the fascinating things sound can do. We’ll also be making our own musical instruments to test out and play!

Summer 5-Day Discovery Camp: CARDBOARD ENGINEERS

Monday, August 21 - Friday, August 25
9:15am-1pm

What can you make out of ordinary cardboard? In this camp, we’re going to find out! Utilizing the engineering/design process, kids ages 7-11 will work on taking a building idea and bringing it to fruition with cardboard, imagination, and lots and lots of tape! Do you want to build a giant unicorn? Maybe a spaceship? We’ll work in teams to make something amazing, and then display our creations at this year’s Dover Mini Maker Faire!

Mini Camps

3-Day Camps for Ages 4-6

Tuesdays–Thursdays, 9:15am-Noon
Fee: $85/mini-camp for Members & $95/mini-camp for Non-members
This is a great first summer camp experience for children ages 4-6. Each mini-camp features exclusive time interacting with museum exhibits, hands on activities, crafts, stories and a snack. Children must be 4 years old on the first day of camp and be able to use the bathroom independently. Each mini-camp focuses on hands-on, interactive learning.

3-Day Summer Mini-Camp: CREATURES CREATE

Tuesday, July 25 - Thursday, July 27
9:15am-Noon

Campers ages 4-6 will learn about the many local creatures that live & build along our waterways. Find out how they have adapted to survive in our area. Campers will learn about osprey, beavers, caddis flies & even Native People as they engage in creative hands-on learning each day!

3-Day Summer Mini Junior Science Camp: SCIENCE ART

Tuesday, August 1 - Thursday, August 3
9:15am-Noon

If you have a mini scientist or artist at home – or both – this camp will be perfect for them! Junior Scientists, ages 4-6, will explore colors, shapes, textures and more by doing hands-on interactive experiments, listening to stories, making science inspired art projects, and of course making a super fun mess!

3-Day Summer Mini-Camp: S.T.E.A.M. STORIES

Tuesday, August 15 - Thursday, August 17
9:15am-Noon

Even our youngest visitors ages 4-6 can explore S.T.E.A.M. (Science / Technology / Engineering / Arts / Math)! Do you have a young scientist at home that also loves books? This is the perfect camp! We’ll read wonderful picture books and then do experiments, activities, and crafts that relate. We’ll explore topics from weather to our five senses to the stars!

3-Day Summer Mini-Camp: YES, YOU ARE AN ARTIST!

Tuesday, August 22 - Thursday, August 24
9:15am-Noon

This camp is designed to encourage the artist that exists within each camper! Using a variety of materials, each child, ages 4-6, will engage in the process of creating sculptures, wearable art and much more. Campers will explore their creative potential and go home with some fabulous works of art! End the session with a mini art show for all to attend!
