After reviewing feedback to our summer camp survey and the state guidelines for summer camps released recently, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel our in-person summer camps this year. If you have registered for a camp already, you will be fully refunded. We did hear that many of you are looking for at-home activities and are happy to announce our new Summer Camp Kits!
Stay and Play Summer Camp Kits
This summer the museum is offering summer camp activity kits for families to do at home. The kits include a variety of hands-on activities with instructions, a calendar with additional activity ideas, and most of the materials needed to complete each project (things like scissors will not be included).
Unique to CMNH: Throughout the summer there will be occasional educator-led check-ins where kids can share what they have made, and see a quick experiment or an art project idea. Kits will include coloring sheets and activity sheets that are unique to CMNH, and feature some favorite museum exhibits.
These kits are screen free: You can participate in each activity without watching a video or logging onto a website. there are some activities included in the kits that have instructional videos available on our YouTube channel, but these are completely optional!
Work at your own pace: The kits will come with a calendar if you would like to spread activities out through the summer or participate at the same time as a friend, but the activities can be completed any time, whether it's a rainy day or something to take along for extra fun on a family trip.
"Tried and true" museum activities: Our educators have put together activities that we know summer camps have loved, and that will be easy for caregivers to implement at home. Most activities can be done independently, or with limited help from an adult.
Wee Camper Kit for ages 3.5-5
Discovery Camper Kit for ages 6-10
$85 for Members
$100 for Non-members
$160 Community Builder: For this price you receive a kit of your choice, and a kit is given to a family who would not otherwise be able to participate due to financial hardship (we choose the age range of the donated kit based on need). We connect with partner organizations to select families who may greatly benefit from an activity kit this summer, similar to a camp scholarship. Museum supporters who do not wish to purchase a kit for themselves may select the "Community Builder: Donate Both Kits" option and gift two kits to two families.
The kits will be available for contactless curbside pick-up at the museum entrance in July (date and time TBD). You will be contacted soon after your purchase to inform you of those pick-up times.
