March STEAM Lab theme: STEAM Lab's Greatest Hits!

The STEAM Innovation Lab has lots of great drop-in programs scheduled throughout the week.

Friday, March 10, 1-4pm: Chromatography Flowers
Come to the STEAM lab and learn how to make a flower out of coffee filters and pipe cleaners. You will also find out if markers are made up of just one or multiple colors.

Saturday, March 11, 1-4pm: Bubble Art
Come into the STEAM lab to make your very own bubble print. Learn why bubbles happen and how you can make art with it. We’ll even see who can make the biggest bubble mountain to make their print.

Sunday, March 12, 4pm: STEAM Storytime
Come to the STEAM lab to hear a fun story where characters use STEAM to make it through their days!

Tuesday, March 14, 1:30-2pm & 2:30-4pm: Tangrams
Come to the STEAM Lab to learn how to create different animals using different shapes.

Wednesday, March 15, 1-4pm: Paddle Boats
Come to the STEAM Lab and make a toy boat out of recyclable materials! Looking for an extra challenge? See if you can make a toy boat that moves on its own – powered by a rubber band paddle wheel!

Thursday, March 16, 1-4pm: Butter Making
How do we take ordinary cream and turn it into butter? Come to the lab to see the process in action and then get a chance to taste your own delicious kitchen chemistry experiment!

Saturday, March 18, 11am-3pm: Lab 1-Year Anniversary!
Celebrate 1 Year of STEAM Lab discovery with us today with fun with Ozobots, the 3D printer and the special FLoid Imaging System microscopes!

Sunday, March 19, 4pm: STEAM Storytime
Come to the STEAM lab to hear a fun story where characters use STEAM to make it through their days!

Tuesday, March 21, 1:30-2pm & 2:30-4pm: Greek Building Challenge
Come to the STEAM Lab to test out how strong paper cups really are!

Wednesday, March 22, 1-4pm: Ghost Balloons
Take an ordinary chemical reaction and make it a little spooky with Ghost Balloons! These crazy balloons can be blown up without any breath at all! How do we do it? Come to the Lab to find out!

Thursday, March 23, 1-4pm: Glowing Ice
Ice can do a lot of things, but did you know it can glow? Not just any ice though! Come to the lab to check out our special glowing ice and observe how salt water affects ice as it melts!

Friday, March 24, 1-4pm: Newspaper Towers
Come to the STEAM Lab for an engineering challenge! Can you make a tower out of nothing but newspaper? Can you make it even taller than you are? Come to the Lab and test out this unconventional building material.

Tuesday, March 28, 1:30-2pm & 2:30-4pm: Bots
Come into the STEAM lab to check out our fun color following robots. Watch as they light up and do special tricks when given a color command.

Wednesday, March 29, 1-4pm: Straw Rockets
Come to the STEAM Lab and create tiny, breath-powered rockets! We’ll be testing out different designs for paper rockets and seeing just how far they can fly!

Thursday, March 30, 1-4pm: 3D Printer
Have you ever wondered how a 3D Printer works? Check out the museum’s Flashforge Creator Pro, watch it print, and learn all about this cutting-edge technology!

Friday, March 31, 1-4pm: Strawberry DNA
Did you know that strawberries have eight copies of each chromosome while humans only have two? That means plenty of DNA to see in this cool experiment that utilizes our FLoid Imaging Systems!
